Job Title: Technical Project Manager

Location: Chicago, IL (Remote)

Reporting to: Sr. Manager, Project Mgmt.

Estimated salary range: $95,000 to $120,000 Annually

Ocient is a hyperscale data solutions company headquartered in Chicago, IL, enabling organizations to analyze trillions to quadrillions of data records in seconds. Over the past five years, Ocient has built a SQL compliant data warehouse for Petabyte and beyond datasets that is 10x to 50x times faster than competitive OLAP databases.

Position Overview

We're building a world class team with the aim of providing polished, professional, Project Management for an emerging company and product. Ocient is looking for ultimate team players who are dedicated to improving our Project Management, product, and customer experience with every interaction. The Ocient team consists of highly technical engineers and understanding the end-to-end development, sales, and delivery cycle is key to adding unique value to the organization. Our ideal Project Manager passionately understands complex software development Project Management. They are driven to lead successful projects coordinating across many participants and stakeholders, solve complex problems, and push the bounds of what is possible with performance and scale. Ocient Project Managers are self-motivated, enthusiastic leaders. They work directly with Engineering Leadership, Engineers, Testers and Product Management personnel and with every part of the internal Ocient organization.

Responsibilities:
• Working closely with Project leadership to ensure visibility of all projects and KPIs across stakeholder teams and leadership and escalate critical risks and issues
• Product release scheduling and tracking
• Creating project timelines and managing development milestones and deliverables
• Managing overall project organization to ensure requirements and project deliverable dates can be clearly communicated to immediate team members (Product/Engineering/QA) as well as business stakeholders
• Partnering with development team members to understand opportunities and limitations of solutions being implemented
• Managing resource and capacity planning sessions for development teams
• Planning and forecasting project state
• Using data and metrics to define business strategy and gain executive support for new visions
• Ensure adherence to the delivery process
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US

Qualifications:
• BS in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field
• Overall 5+ years in a technical role
• 3+ years of project management experience or closely working with project management
• Understanding databases, data movement, and data analytics
• Excellent technical and non-technical written and oral communication in English
• Ability to drive complex projects with many moving parts to meet their target date
• Ability to lead a team without direct management responsibility for the team members
• Working knowledge of SDLC and Agile practices
• + Background working with databases on-prem, in the cloud, and running as a service
• + An understanding of SQL, database HA/DR, and database security
